Itinerary Directions
- Departure from Girona by train: Start your adventure in the city of Girona, where you will board the train to Figueres. Renfe’s R11 line connects the two cities in a journey that lasts between 30 and 40 minutes, on a medium-distance or regional train, on which you are allowed to take a bicycle.
- From Figueres to Castelló d’Empúries – Pirinexus Coastal Route: Once you arrive in Figueres, take your bike and start pedaling along the Pirinexus Coastal route to Castelló d’Empúries. Here you can enjoy the medieval charm of the town and its rich history.
- From Castelló d’Empúries to Sant Feliu de Guíxols – Pirinexus Route: From Castelló d’Empúries, you will follow the Pirinexus route in the direction of Torroella de Montgrí. This section will take you through picturesque villages and green fields, until you reach the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The route provides spectacular views of the Mediterranean and also the opportunity to discover the area’s cultural heritage.
- From Sant Feliu de Guíxols to Girona – Carrilet II Greenway: In Sant Feliu de Guíxols, you will connect with the Carrilet II greenway, an old railway converted into a greenway that will take you back to Girona. Along the way, you will pass through varied landscapes, from shady forests to farmlands, offering a peaceful and pleasant experience.
The route can be done in either direction. You can start from Girona by cycling to Figueres and return by train, or start the itinerary in the city of Figueres.
